Alesandria Orlando

About

Alesandria Orlando is a contemporary oil painter whose work explores emotional tension, transformation, fragmentation, and the inner landscapes of human experience. Blending figuration with abstraction, her paintings exist in the space between memory and embodiment, where vulnerability, longing, fear, softness, and psychological emergence intersect.

Working largely intuitively, Orlando approaches painting as both excavation and revelation. Figures dissolve into atmosphere, bodies merge with emotional environments, and gestures become symbolic languages of becoming. Her work often examines the tension between collapse and transcendence, using layered textures, dramatic contrasts, and expressive distortion to create paintings that feel less like narratives and more like emotional states.

Influenced by Baroque chiaroscuro, psychological figuration, and expressionist traditions, Orlando is particularly drawn to the relationship between light and vulnerability, and how illumination can expose, transform, or sanctify the human form. Her practice embraces ambiguity, allowing paintings to remain emotionally open rather than fully resolved.

As a largely self taught artist, her journey has been rooted in experimentation, instinct, and relentless observation. Each piece becomes part of an evolving visual language centered around embodiment, feminine experience, transformation, and the unseen emotional architectures people carry within them.

Her work invites viewers not simply to observe, but to enter, to sit within tension, memory, grief, longing, softness, and becoming.
